How I got into Friesians
I have been involved in horses most of my life, I left school at 16 and began my training at a riding school in Windermere, the owner was also a successful 3-day eventer and so whilst I studied towards my horse exams I also shadowed the head groom at horse trails. I then went onto being the head girl at a private thoroughbred stud for several years, involving the breaking-in of the yearlings, preparation of horses for the sales and foaling etc.

The first experience I had of seeing a Friesian in the flesh was at a local show when I was about 10 years old and remember the way she stood out from the crowd with her superior looks and presence, I knew then that if I ever had the opportunity to own a horse that a Friesian would be top of my list. Time passed and the chance of owning my own horse has unfortunately never been an option, then by chance I hit upon a website of a company close to me who offered carriage rides. I booked a carriage ride straight away as a ‘treat' for my husband (I have a habit of buying presents that are really more suited for me than Ivan) for our 5th Wedding anniversary and it was the best money I have ever spent and now am a regular lodger at the weekends/holidays at the stables where I am learning more and more about this wonderful breed.

I am now a very proud part owner of the most gorgeous Friesian stallion.  I hope the more I learn about these amazing horses will help me in my role as Northern Rep.
